What it is and what it is made of

This is a small silicone bumper that cushions the point where a door meets a wall or floor. The material is silicone, which stays soft and flexible, so it absorbs contact instead of passing the knock along to the surface behind it. The clear color keeps it visually quiet on painted walls, trim, and tile.

Use it as a wall door stop, a floor door stop, or a buffer anywhere a door tends to swing too far. It suits interior doors in homes, apartments, and offices.

Size and pack options

Every bumper is the same size. The only choice is how many you want.

Size Dimensions
Single bumper 1-1/4 x 0.5 in (31 x 13 mm)
Pack Bumpers included
Single 1
Pack of 5 5
Pack of 8 8

A single is handy for one problem door. The pack of 5 covers a few rooms, and the pack of 8 suits a whole home or a small office. All packs contain the same clear silicone bumper.

Where it works

A door stop bumper is a small fix for a common problem: a door that opens into a wall, a cabinet, or a piece of furniture. Place one where the door would otherwise hit, and the silicone takes the impact.

Common spots include:

  • Behind an interior door that swings into a wall
  • Under a door that meets a hard floor
  • On a baseboard or door frame where a handle would strike
  • Inside a cabinet or closet where a door swings open
  • Near a door that bumps a piece of furniture

The clear silicone keeps the bumper from standing out. On white trim it nearly disappears, and on wood or tile it reads as a small, clean dot rather than a hardware piece.

How to fit and use it

Decide where the door makes contact. Open the door slowly until it stops, then mark the spot on the wall, floor, or frame. Clean that spot and let it dry.

Peel the backing and press the bumper into place. Hold it for a few seconds so it grips. If you are placing several, work one door at a time so each bumper lands where the door actually meets the surface.

For a floor door stop, set the bumper where the bottom edge of the door lands. For a wall door stop, set it where the door edge or handle would hit. A small test open and close confirms the placement before you move on.

Care

Wipe the bumper with a dry cloth when it looks dusty. No water, polish, or cleaner is needed. Silicone holds its shape, so the bumper keeps doing its job with very little attention.
