The arm is 13/16 in (21 mm) wide and the wall plate 1 in (25 mm) wide, with screw holes in both.
Lift the arm and the brace slides along it until it locks the arm level at 90 degrees. Release the brace and the arm swings down flat against the wall plate, taking the top with it. Fold and open them together, one hand on each end of the top.
A fold-down desk in a hallway or a guest room. A laundry shelf that drops away when the basket is gone. A workbench leaf in the garage, or a breakfast ledge in a small kitchen. Anywhere a fixed shelf would always be in the way.
Screw the wall plates into studs at the same height, using a level between them, then fit the top with short screws up through the holes in the arms. When the brackets fold, the top hangs straight down, so mount them at least the depth of the top above the floor or whatever sits below. On drywall with no stud behind it, use anchors rated for the load; on brick or concrete, a masonry bit and plugs.
Wipe with a damp cloth and dry. A drop of light oil on the pivots keeps the action smooth. Keep scouring pads and solvents off the white finish.
Delivery is $6.95, and orders over $49 ship free. Unused pairs can come back within 30 days of delivery.
A top a little deeper than the arm is the sweet spot: about 10 to 12 in (25 to 30 cm) on the 8 in pair and 12 to 15 in (30 to 38 cm) on the 10 in pair. A deeper top levers harder on the wall screws.
One pair carries a top up to about 32 in (81 cm) wide. For a longer desk or a workbench, add a third bracket in the middle and screw every bracket into a stud.
Hold the top with one hand, release the brace on each bracket and lower the top until it hangs flat against the wall. To open, lift the top until both braces lock.
Into studs is best, because a desk top gets leaned on. If a stud isn't where you need it, use anchors rated for the load, or screw a wooden batten across two studs and fix the brackets to that.
Unused pairs can come back within 30 days of delivery. Measure the drop below the brackets before you drill, so the folded top clears the floor.
