Each size comes as a pair, with screw holes in both arms.
No brace and no gusset, just one clean bend. Under a pale wood shelf, black reads as a thin dark line; on a white wall, white all but disappears and leaves the shelf to do the talking. The rounded inside corner keeps the bend soft, so the brackets look made rather than cut.
An open L relies on the bend and the screws, so it suits the everyday loads of a living room or a kitchen ledge: frames, plants, paperbacks, jars. For a long run of hardcovers or stacked plates, use a bracket on every stud, or pick a braced bracket instead.
Find the studs and mark a level line. Screw the short arm to the wall with wood screws long enough to go at least 1 in (25 mm) into each stud, then rest the shelf on the brackets and fix it with short screws up through the holes in the top arm, so it can't slide or lift. On drywall with no stud behind it, use anchors rated for the weight; on brick or concrete, a masonry bit and plugs.
Wipe with a damp cloth and dry. Keep scouring pads and solvents off the coated finish. To repaint, scuff lightly, prime with a metal primer and paint.
Delivery is $6.95, and orders over $49 ship free. Unused pairs can come back within 30 days of delivery.
On the 8 x 6 in pair, the longer 7-7/8 in (200 mm) arm goes under the shelf and the 5-7/8 in (150 mm) arm screws to the wall. The 4 x 4 in pair has equal arms, so either way round works.
Plan for a shelf no more than about a third deeper than the arm: up to about 6 in (15 cm) on the 4 x 4 in pair and up to 12 in (30 cm) on the 8 x 6 in pair. Deeper shelves lever harder on the screws.
One pair holds a shelf up to about 36 in (91 cm) long. Longer shelves, or shelves full of books, want a third bracket in the middle, so buy a second pair and keep the spare for the next shelf.
Yes. Scuff the surface lightly with fine sandpaper, wipe it clean, prime with a metal primer and paint. White takes a new color most easily.
Unused pairs can come back within 30 days of delivery. Hold one under the shelf before you drill to check the arm length.
