What it is and what it is made of

This is a wall plate for a light switch or socket. The face is black walnut wood, a dark hardwood with straight grain that varies slightly from plate to plate. The trim and fittings are brass. How to fit it

The plate fixes from the back with two M4 screws. Brass screws are included, so you do not need to source matching hardware. Turn off the power at the breaker before you start. Remove the old plate, keep the wires in place, and seat the new plate over the box. Drive the two screws from the back into the box threads and tighten until the plate sits flat against the wall. Do not overtighten, since the screws press into wood.

A few notes help the fit go smoothly. Check that your wall box is the standard size before ordering. Confirm the style matches your switch or socket layout. If the wall surface is uneven, a small shim behind the plate can stop it from rocking. Once the power is back on, test the switch or socket before you put tools away.

Care

Wipe the plate with a dry cloth. That is all it needs for normal dust and fingerprints. Keep water and liquid cleaners away from the wood, since moisture can dull the finish and lift the grain over time. Brass parts can be left to age or wiped dry to keep their tone even. Because the plate is not for wet locations, do not install it in a bathroom, shower area, laundry room or anywhere it may get splashed.
