What it is

The Glass Cable Exit Wall Plate is a replacement faceplate with a pre-drilled center hole. Cables pass through that hole instead of hanging over the edge of a standard cover. The plate is made of tempered glass, so the surface is smooth and easy to keep clean.

Use it where a cable needs to leave the wall and run to a screen, speaker or other low-voltage device. The plate sits flush against the wall like a standard cover and gives the run a finished look.

Size and fit

Measurement Value
Width 3-3/8 in (86 mm)
Height 3-3/8 in (86 mm)
Depth 1-3/8 in (36 mm)

Check the opening in your wall before you order. The plate is sold as a single unit, so measure first if you plan to cover more than one spot.

The center hole is sized for cables that fit through it. Cables thicker than the center hole will not pass through. If your cable has a large connector on the end, confirm the connector fits before you install the plate.

Colors

Pick the finish that matches the room:

  • White glass
  • Black glass
  • White
  • Gray glass
  • Gold glass
  • Black
  • Gold
  • Gray

The glass options have a smooth, reflective surface. The solid color options give you a flatter look. All options use the same size and the same center hole.

How to install

  1. Turn off power at the breaker if the wall box holds any wiring.
  2. Remove the old faceplate from the wall box.
  3. Feed the cable through the center hole of the new plate.
  4. Line up the plate with the box and press it into place.
  5. Secure it with the mounting screws for the box.

If you are only routing a low-voltage cable, no wiring connection is needed at the plate. The plate is a cover, not a connector. It does not join cables or carry current.

Care

Wipe the plate with a dry cloth. Keep liquids away from the center hole and the edges of the glass. A dry cloth is enough for dust and fingerprints.

Where it works

This plate suits media walls, desks, shelves and other spots where a cable leaves the wall. It also works as a blank cover with a pass-through when a cable needs a tidy exit point. Match the color to your other wall plates for a consistent look across the room.
