What this door knob is

The Iron Ball Door Knob is a round, face mount knob made of iron. The ball shape sits close to the door and gives a smooth, rounded grip that suits vintage and traditional homes as well as newer interiors that lean classic.

It is sold as a single knob. Two screws fix it from the front of the door, so the mounting hardware stays hidden on the back side.

Sizes

Measurement Inches Metric
Knob diameter 2-3/8 in 60 mm
Overall size 2-3/4 x 2-5/8 in 70 x 66 mm

The diameter is the width of the round ball. The overall size covers the full knob from edge to edge. Check both against the door or cabinet face before you order, and leave enough clearance for fingers to grip the ball.

Colors

Pick from three finishes at checkout:

  • Gold: a warm, bright tone that reads traditional and pairs well with brass accents and wood doors.
  • Matte black: a low-sheen dark finish that suits farmhouse, industrial and modern rooms.
  • Silver: a cool, neutral tone that blends with stainless steel and chrome hardware.

Each color uses the same iron body and the same round shape, so the choice is about matching the rest of your hardware.

How to fit it

This knob mounts from the front of the door. Two screws pass through the face of the knob and into the door, which keeps the fixing simple and the back of the door clean.

A few steps to follow:

  1. Mark the spot for the knob on the door face. Use the existing hole if you are replacing an old knob.
  2. Hold the knob in place and check that it sits level and clears the door frame.
  3. Drive the two screws through the front of the knob and tighten them evenly.
  4. Test the swing of the door and the grip of the knob before you close it for the first time.

If you are fitting a pair, one knob on each side, line them up so the balls sit at the same height. On cabinets and wardrobes, the same face mount works well on flat doors and drawers.

Where it works

Use this knob on interior doors, closet doors, cabinet doors and drawers. The round ball is easy to grip and does not catch on sleeves or bags the way a long lever can. It suits period homes, cottages, rentals and any room where you want a simple round shape.

Because it is sold as a single knob, you can order exactly the number you need for a door, a pair of doors or a run of cabinets. Mix colors across rooms if you like, or keep one finish throughout the house.

Care

Wipe the knob with a dry cloth to keep the finish clean. A quick dry wipe now and then is all it needs.
