Where it holds

Suction needs a smooth, non-porous surface to seal. Good spots include glazed tile, glass, mirrored cabinet doors, smooth painted doors, laminate and metal.

Skip textured or porous surfaces. That means unpainted brick, rough stone, raw wood, wallpaper with a raised pattern and heavily textured plaster. On those surfaces the cup cannot form a seal, so the hook will not stay put.

How to fit it

Clean the surface with a dry cloth. Dust, soap film and grease all weaken the seal.
Press the hook against the wall and push the center of the cup flat against the surface.
Hold it for a few seconds so the air works out from under the cup.
Give it a gentle tug before you hang anything on it.

If the hook loosens later, peel it off, wipe the cup and the wall, and press it back on. A little water on the cup can help it seat, but let it dry before you trust it with weight.
