The pieces

Why gunmetal

Gunmetal is darker than brushed nickel and softer than matte black. From across the room it reads as a solid, cool gray; up close it has a faint metallic sheen. It pairs naturally with black or gunmetal faucets, concrete, slate and gray stone, and it is an easy way into dark hardware if matte black feels too flat. The finish is applied by vacuum coating, which bonds a thin, hard layer to the brass.

The square profile

The arms are flat bars with squared ends and soft inside corners where they turn toward the wall. The plates sit flat against the wall, and the bends are rounded, so a towel slides on and off without catching.

Fitting

Mark the plate positions with a level and fix with screws that suit your wall: wood screws into studs, rated anchors in drywall, and a tile bit at low speed through ceramic or porcelain. A double towel bar loaded with wet bath towels is the heaviest piece here, so catch a stud with at least one end if you can.

Care

Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry. Mild soap is fine. Bleach, scouring pads and polish can wear the coating, so keep them off it.

Questions

Is gunmetal the same as matte black?

No. Gunmetal is a dark metallic gray with a soft sheen; matte black has no sheen at all. Next to a black faucet, gunmetal looks like a deliberate second tone rather than a near miss.

Will the 22-7/16 in towel bar fit my wall?

The overall length is 22-7/16 in (570 mm), plate to plate. Allow a few inches either side: a wall about 26 in (66 cm) wide gives it room to breathe.

Where should the robe hook go?

About 70 in (178 cm) above the floor suits most adults, beside the shower or on the back of the door. On a hollow-core door, use hollow-door anchors rather than plain screws.
